About e-Learning Credits

What exactly are eLearning Credits?
eLCs are a type of government funding made available to primary and secondary schools, special schools and pupil referral units in England. eLC funding is real cash. It can be found in the Standards Fund budget under the heading ELC Grant 618.

How many eLCredits is my school entitled to?
Each eligible institution will receive around £1,000 plus just under £10 per pupil.

How can eLearning Credits be spent?
You can spend your eLCs online at www.mdrpublishing.com
.

Are there any rules?
Schools may only spend their eLCs on certified resources sold by registered content providers, like MDR Publishing.

Certified resources are those which have:

a minimum of 80% of their component parts in digital format with the remaining 20% being attributable to non-digital support materials such as training or guides specific relevance to the curriculum as taught in England at Key Stages 1 to 4 for 5-16-year-olds.

eLCs cannot be used to purchase hardware.

Who can help?
Contact your LEA if you are unsure whether you have received your allocation of eLCs. They will be able to tell you how much you are entitled to and when you received it.

What is Curriculum Online (COL)?
Curriculum Online is a Government initiative to develop the use of ICT across the curriculum by giving schools access to quality digital resources. It applies to all maintained primary and secondary schools, non-maintained special schools and pupil referral units in England. Maintained nursery schools and nursery classes within maintained primary schools will also get eLCs this year.

How does COL work?
COL increases schools' access to digital resources - CD-Roms, DVDs and website subscriptions. It does this by:

giving schools eLearning Credits (eLCs), extra funds for the purchase of digital teaching and learning resources creating a comprehensive online information centre www.curriculumonline.gov.uk , where teachers can find out about quality digital resources available today ensuring that the resources certified as eligible for purchase with eLCs are relevant to the National Curriculum, and supplied by reputable and experienced educational publishers.

Visit the curriculumonline website to review the whole range of resources available to you.
